1995年に当時20歳のギタリストRune "Blasphemer" EriksenがMAYHEMに加入したとき、このブラックメタルバンドはすでに伝説となっていた。
その地位は、"Deathcrush" や "De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas" といったカルト作品と同様に、以前の軸となるバンドリーダーEuronymousの殺人によって広く知られていたものであった。
この悲劇を受け、Blasphemerは壊れたバンドを復活させることに成功した。あとは歴史の通り、この若いノルウェー人を唯一のコンポーザーとして、MAYHEMは2000年に非常に物議を醸しながらも最終的にはほとんどのファンを喜ばせたアルバム（『Grand Declaration Of War』）、2004年に伝統的なブラックメタルアルバム（『Chimera』）、2007年に象徴的なボーカリストAttila Csiharの復帰を祝うダーティサウンドの嫌悪の塊（『Ord Ad Chao』）を発表した。
この3枚組CDは、その3つのカルト作を集めたものだ。
